Kafka's Metamorphosis is about disability and dying. A man wakes one morning unable to speak or act. He can no longer work as his family and society have demanded of him. He is ashamed of how he becomes useless. Slowly, he starves because he cannot feed himself. When he dies, his family feels liberated from the responsibility of whatever it was they were trying to do for him.
